IPL photorejuvenation is a highly effective skin rejuvenation method that removes pigment spots from the skin and stimulates collagen synthesis in the skin, making the skin smoother and firmer.

IPL photorejuvenation procedure is also suitable for the treatment of rosacea and for hair removal.

The IPL technology makes it possible to combine different modes and thereby solve several problems in one go:

  • Pigment spots
  • Uneven complexion
  • Superficial wrinkles
  • Aging skin (skin that has lost its elasticity, sagging skin)
  • Enlarged pores
  • Ruddy cheeks and areas around the nose
  • Red or purplish acne scars

Benefits of IPL photorejuvenation:

  • Effective skin rejuvenation
  • Removes pigment spots and capillaries
  • Reduces inflammation in the skin (acne, rosacea)
  • Makes the complexion more even

How does IPL photorejuvenation work?

IPL differs from laser in its wavelength: while the laser operates in one specific wavelength and is therefore very effective in hitting one specific target, IPL makes use of a range of wavelengths, meaning that IPL can "attack" several targets simultaneously. For example, a single IPL rejuvenation session can cover reduction of pigmentation and redness, while also stimulating collagen production and tightening the skin.

Photorejuvenation uses the IPL (intense pulsed light) method. IPL light stimulates the synthesis of collagen in the skin, resulting in more elastic and firmer skin, disappearing superficial wrinkles and pigment spots, and in smoother and younger skin. It also reduces the ruddiness of the cheeks, narrows the pores and heals acne-damaged skin. Photorejuvenation can be used to rejuvenate the skin of the face, neck, cleavage and hands.

IPL flashes are non-ablative, meaning that the surface of the skin is not damaged. Special blackout goggles are used during the procedure, to prevent photo flashes from reaching the eye. The procedure is safe and harmless, with a minimum recovery time.

Before the IPL laser rejuvenation procedure:

  • All active inflammation should be treated and healed prior to the procedure, if possible.
  • We do not perform the procedure during antibiotic treatment, 2 weeks must have passed since you took the last medication.
  • If you are on medication, be sure to let us know before coming for the procedure.
  • Stop using creams that contain retinol or other active ingredients 3 days before coming for the procedure. You can continue using these after your skin has recovered from the procedure.
  • Contraindications are: oncological diseases, chronic inflammations in the body, keloid scars, active herpes, freshly tanned skin, melasma, epilepsy.
  • The treatment cannot be performed on tanned, brown skin. At least 2 to 4 weeks must have passed since sunbathing, depending on the skin tone. Self-tanning creams should also not be used in 2 weeks preceding the procedure.
  • Dark hairs growing in the area to be treated must be shaved off a day before or on the day of the procedure.
  • The procedure is not performed during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
  • For persons under the age of 18, we only perform the procedure with the consent of a parent or guardian.

After the IPL laser rejuvenation procedure:

  • Do not drink alcohol for 24 hours after the procedure.
  • Avoid going to the sauna and swimming for 2 weeks after the procedure.
  • Make sure to use SPF50 sun screen cream for 2 weeks.
  • Other facial procedures (facial beauty, facial massage, chemical exfoliation, beauty injections, etc.) may be performed after 2 weeks.
  • Slight redness, flushing and swelling may occur after the procedure. Bruising may occur in rare cases.
  • A cold compress (only refrigerator-cold, not freezer-cold!) may be applied to the skin to reduce flushing and the feeling of hotness.
  • To soothe the burning sensation of the skin and restore the skin, you need to use a skin regenerating cream (such as Bepanthen, Burnshield, Cicabio, Cicaplast Baume or similar) until the skin has recovered.
  • Thermal water spray (Avene, La Roche Posay) is also very effective for moisturizing and soothing the skin.
  • Uncomfortable swelling can be reduced with antihistamines (anti-allergy tablets, over the counter products at chemists - Zyrtec, Claritine).
  • You can use makeup immediately after the procedure.
  • Pigment will start to peel off after the procedure. The pigment becoms darker and pigment crusts (resembling coffee grounds) appear on the skin, which peel off naturally in about 7 to 10 days. Do not remove the crusts yourself.
  • You can wash the skin with products intended for sensitive skin (such as gentle washing gel or micellar water).
  • Since IPL treatment is often performed in a series of treatments, the next procedure can be performed after 4 weeks.
  • To prolong the effect of the IPL treatment, use sunscreen all year round (protect your face from the sun!).
  • At your first appointment for the procedure, the specialist will first consult about the procedure. The specialist performs a thorough facial analysis and establishes, if the procedure is necessary. During the consultation, the specialist explains everything related to the procedure and gives instructions for appropriate skin care at home.

We perform IPL procedures for the treatment of acne, redness and pigmentation.
